Georgetown County School District – Brown's Ferry Elementary School for the Creative and Performing Arts
Grand Strand
Age 34
As an elementary instructional coach, I improve student achievement by building teacher capacity through non-evaluative support, modeling research-based strategies, and analyzing data. I focus on co-planning, co-teaching, providing professional development, and mentoring teachers to improve literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional learning. I also coordinate all state and local assessments, the upkeep of staff and student technology, coordinate reading initiatives, and coordinate Title I resources. I am active in various professional and civic organizations, serving on the board of Miss Ruby's Kids to ensure that all students in Georgetown County have an equal start. Professionally, I serve as the president of the South Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics (SCCTM) and the web master of South Carolina Leaders of Mathematics Education. My goal is to ensure that all students in the state of South Carolina receive a high-quality math education. At my alma mater, Coastal Carolina University, I have served on the alumni board of directors and currently serve on the board of visitors for Spadoni College of Education and Social Sciences. I am also the field director for the CCU Call Me MiSTER Cohort. I am the sponsor for the Beta Club at Brown's Ferry Elementary and also serve as the South Carolina Elementary State Sponsor-Elect. I work hard to help develop leaders at my school and around the state of South Carolina. I am also active at my church, St. Paul AME – Oatland, where I serve on the trustee board, serve as the Sons of Allen president, and also coordinate the church media.
