Associate Professor

Horry-Georgetown Technical College

Grand Strand

Age 30

Born and raised along the Mason-Dixon Line, I relocated to the Grand Strand in 2014 to attend Coastal Carolina University. I graduated from Coastal with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a Master of Business Administration. Rather than leaving after graduation, I chose to make the Grand Strand home and continued my career at CCU, where I have held a variety of roles spanning marketing, career services, advancement, and teaching as an adjunct instructor. Recently, I began a new chapter as an associate professor at Horry-Georgetown Technical College, where I have the opportunity to combine my professional experience with my passion for education and student success. Beyond my professional career, I am actively involved in the local community and serve on the council for the Grand Strand Young Professionals. I take great pride in giving back, building meaningful relationships, and finding ways to make a positive impact in the community I am proud to call home.

Favorite Quote and Why: “Leave it better than you found it.” This quote is important to me because I believe in going the extra mile, working a little harder, and doing the things others may not be willing to do. Those small choices can make a real difference – not only in the lives of others, but in your own life as well. You never know the impact you can make simply by choosing to leave things, people, and places a little better than you found them.

Definition of a Successful Leader: To me, a successful leader is someone who brings out the best in the people around them. Leadership isn't about having the loudest voice or being the person with all the answers; it's about listening, building trust, leading by example, and creating opportunities for others to succeed.

Advice to 18-Year-Old Self: I would tell my 18-year-old self to just keep going. Not everything is going to happen on your timeline, and there will be plenty of moments when you question whether you're on the right path. Trust the process, learn from the setbacks, and don't be afraid to take chances. You don't need to have everything figured out – you just need to keep moving forward. The hard work, long days, and unexpected turns will eventually lead you exactly where you're supposed to be.
