Daughters of Both Suns Expands Mental Health Impact Across South Carolina

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Daughters of Both Suns, an award-winning nonprofit organization based in Myrtle Beach, continues to expand its impact across South Carolina by increasing access to trauma-informed mental health support, community partnerships, advocacy, and wellness initiatives for women and families.

Founded by Jessica Sanchez, Daughters of Both Suns was created to bridge gaps in mental health care through culturally responsive resource navigation, affordable therapy referrals, community education, and collaborative partnerships with healthcare providers, nonprofits, businesses, and local governments.

Over the past year, the organization has experienced significant growth and recognition, including being named South Carolina’s Best Trauma-Informed Women’s Mental Health Nonprofit of 2026 and earning Gold Winner – Best of the Beach 2026 in the Nonprofit Organization category.

The nonprofit has served more than 200 women and families through mental health navigation, therapy referrals, advocacy, educational workshops, and community support while continuing to expand its network of licensed mental health providers.

Recent accomplishments include:

  • Launching Spectrum of Hope, a new autism advocacy and family support initiative focused on improving access to culturally responsive services.Hosting the Healing Together Community Resource & Wellness Fair, bringing together healthcare organizations, nonprofits, and community partners to connect residents with essential services.

  • Announcing the upcoming Rooted & Restored Women’s Mental Health Retreat, a full-day healing experience featuring licensed clinicians, wellness professionals, and community leaders.
  • Expanding statewide collaborations with healthcare providers, universities, nonprofits, and corporate partners to improve access to behavioral health resources.
  • Growing volunteer and internship opportunities that prepare future social workers and community advocates.
  • Increasing public awareness through television interviews, community speaking engagements, and regional recognition.
