Lt. Governor Pamela Evette: A Business Mind for South Carolina's Future

Op-Ed provided by Evette for Governor

Posted

When President Trump came down that golden escalator in 2015, he challenged the conventional wisdom of American politics. He showed that successful business leaders didn’t have to sit on the sidelines while career politicians made decisions affecting our economy, jobs, and communities.

As a business owner myself, I knew firsthand exactly what he was talking about. Like President Trump, I spent years signing the front and back of paychecks, balancing budgets, creating jobs, and dealing with the consequences of government decisions.

It was my business experience and our shared support for President Trump that led Gov. Henry McMaster to select me as his running mate and governing partner. Together, we've worked to make South Carolina one of the most conservative and pro-business states in America.

Under the McMaster-Evette Administration, we've delivered historic tax relief, cut unemployment insurance taxes for employers, attracted record investment, and passed the first major tort reform legislation in two decades. South Carolina now leads the nation in domestic migration and remains one of the best states in America to do business.

Now it's time to build on that success.

As governor, I will work with the General Assembly to eliminate the state income tax and lower property taxes so families and small businesses can keep more of what they earn. We can do this by shrinking the size and spending of the government, the number one cause of inflation. I will launch the South Carolina Office of Government Efficiency (S.C.O.G.E.) to root out waste, fraud, and abuse, modernize state government operations, and ensure no tax dollars are wasted.

I will work to get the government off the backs of our businesses by slashing useless regulations and establishing the rule that for every one new regulation proposed, at least ten must be cut.

And as South Carolina continues to grow, we must invest in the infrastructure and energy needed to support that growth. I'll cut regulations that delay projects and bring together state and local leaders, business owners, and innovators to develop a cost-effective blueprint that manages our state’s rapid growth by improving our roads and bridges and expanding reliable, affordable energy.

I'm the only candidate in this race endorsed by both President Trump and Gov. McMaster. I'm also the only candidate who combines a record of conservative results in state government with decades of executive experience in the private sector.

President Trump showed that business leaders belong in government because they know how to solve real-world problems and deliver tangible results. That's the approach I've brought to the Lieutenant Governor's Office, and it's the approach I'll take in the Governor's Office.

Together, as your next governor, we will keep South Carolina the most conservative, pro-business state in America and ensure our best days are still ahead.

Pamela Evette is South Carolina’s 93rd Lt. Governor and the leading Republican candidate for governor with the endorsement of President Trump and Gov. Henry McMaster. After building and growing a successful company, Evette served alongside Gov. Henry McMaster and helped make South Carolina one of the most conservative and business-friendly states in the country. She is running for Governor to continue that success and ensure South Carolina remains the best place in America to live, work, raise a family, and build a business.
