Tim McGhee joined the Theatre of the Republic as executive/artistic director in the year 2000, recently celebrating 25 years of service. In 1993, McGhee moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and while in Myrtle Beach, he became district manager for a company called Cabin Creek, which involved six gift shops on the east coast. During that time he also became president of the Theatre of the Republic's board of directors. After serving two years, he stepped off the board and became executive director of the theater, and is still going strong at the age of 70. McGhee's goal for 2026 is to open a new theater for the Theatre of the Republic called Century Theatre, a place where new directors can practice their craft, and new playwrights can produce and stage their work.
